Wedding Keepsakes Tips & Ideas ~ "At our wedding a friend of mine got an autograph book, passed around and asked our guests to write something funny, a joke, something silly or whatever they wanted. When my husband and I got the book after our honeymoon and started reading it, we laughed for hours. We loved it and still do." Sharon K of PA. "An outdoor wedding for much less than $1000." My tips: 1. Use what you already have...Baskets, tables, chairs, fabric, etc. 2. Be frugal while shopping for wedding supplies by keeping up with clearance sales at local stores, watching newspaper specials, etc. 3. See what others have to offer to help make the wedding special. Friends and family are more than happy to bring a dish for the reception, pick up tables and chairs, or let you borrow items for the event. 4. Choose the colors of your wedding and then search out those colors while shopping. You never know what item in that particular color would be a perfect addition to the wedding decorations, etc. 5. Call around for the best prices. Calculate in the cost of gas, delivery costs and availability issues. 6. For wedding attire for the bride, groom, attendants, mothers, check out Ebay, resale shops and clearance sections. Long dresses go on sale after prom season! Also look for attire that could be worn again, fashionable and stylish. 7. Use the home of a friend or family member. It's free, it's romantic and the reception can be held outdoors also. 8. Print your own invitations and other paperwear needed for the wedding. You can purchase blank invitations that are beautiful and cheap. Print out, address and mail! 9. Have a friend or family member that likes to bake? Ask them to do your wedding cake. Be creative, don't buy the cake topper, make it! Use anything that would go with your weddings theme. You would be surprised how creative you can be with some artificial flowers, small figurines and tulle. There are many more ways to save a nickel and every nickel saved means a nicer honeymoon! Be frugal, be creative and have a day that everyone will remember. My last tips is to remember that it is always "the little things" that truly make the day a memorable one." Kelly B. of NC "Here is a great idea for wedding favors. Using votive candles, wrap each in some tulle or organdy that matches your wedding. Secure them with a ribbon, or lace. Add little floral touches or beads and a little note. You can print the tags on your printer using a business card setting and some pretty card stock. These are really inexpensive, cute and useful. Just about everyone loves candles!" Kristean T. of IN |
