  • Take your 2 yards of black denim fabric, open it out flat, then cut in down the middle along the full 72 inches. (Your finished piece should measure 72" long and either 22 1/2" high or 30" high, depending on the fabric width.)
  • Stretch out one piece on a table or somewhere flat where it will be able to sit and dry for 12-24 hours.
  • Draw in a piece of the sun in the corner, as your starting point.
  • Using your various bowl sizes to create the planets, draw pencil lines around the bowls at the placement of each planet. (The planets are listed above in their correct order from the sun.)
  • Color in each of the planets with glowing fabric paints. (You can make this a fun learning project and go to the website above to learn more about planet features to help paint them with more individual characteristics.)
  • Add stars, comets, space ships etc...
  • Let dry for about 24 hours.

Done!
Tack it up on the ceiling, turn out the lights and enjoy your trip through space!
