Christmas Angel Napkin Rings
#4 of 4 part holiday series
November 2003

© Copyright 2003 by AOK Corral Craft and Gift Bazaar.  All rights reserved.
These projects are for your personal use only and may not be reprinted or copied without written permission from AOK Corral.

Materials Needed:

  • Wood Pieces (all with holes)
    • 16 mm Round Bead (head)
    • 1" long Oval Beads (body)
    • 9/16" long Oval Beads (arms)
  • Raffia Strands
  • Pre made Angel wings
  • 1 1/2" wide Gathered Lace
  • 1" wide Lace
  • Small gold cord or wire
  • Doll hair or thin string
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Small Paint Brush
  • Plain Napkin Rings
  • Scissors
  • Glue Gun

Assemble Angel Body:

  1. Take 4 strands of raffia, hold together and tie a knot at one end. Tie the knot over again until it is large enough that it will not slip through the holes in your larger wooden oval beads (body).
  2. Thread two large oval beads (body) onto the group of raffia strands and slide them down to the knot.
  3. To make the arms, take one of the four strands of raffia and thread 2 of the smaller oval beads onto it.
  4. Slide the beads to the end of the raffia strand to meet the large oval bead (body).
  5. Tie a knot in the raffia strand at the end of the second arm bead. You will need to tie this knot a few times so that it will be a large enough knot to keep from slipping through the hole in the small oval beads (arms).
  6. Repeat steps 3-5 above for the other arm.
  7. Thread the last two strands of raffia through the round bead (head) and slide the bead to meet the large oval bead (body)
  8. Tie a knot in the raffia strands at the top of the round bead (head) to secure the body.  Again, make sure that you tie the knot enough times to keep it from slipping into the hole in the bead.
  9. Trim the ends of the raffia strands so that 1/4" is sticking out beyond the knots.
  10. Paint your angels body and arms white.
  11. Cut two pieces of the 1 1/2" gathered lace long enough to go around the top rim of each of the large oval beads (body)
  12. Using your hot glue gun, glue the first piece of lace around the top rim of the bottom large oval bead (body).
  13. Then do the same thing with the other piece of lace only around the top rim of the top large oval bead (body). (This creates her dress.)
  14. Cut two pieces of the 1" lace long enough to go around the small oval beads (arms).
  15. Use your hot glue gun to glue one of these pieces of lace to the top rim of the bead closest to the head of the angel.
  16. Repeat for the other arm. (This creates the sleeves of her dress.)
  17. Glue on doll hair or string, a halo of gold wire, and a pair of angel wings.
Assemble Angel Napkin Ring:
  1. Take a plain napkin ring, (wood is good) center the angels wings to the napkin ring and glue it in place with your hot glue gun.

  2.
Done!
You are now ready to decorate your Christmas Table with these cute holiday Angels!
Or, Use the Angel decoration on name tags or pins to wear.
